The Comedy Barn Theater • Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

November 2018

This show is a hoot! A family fun show packed with live entertainment. If you’re lucky, you’ll be selected to become an active participant in the show!

We have driven by The Comedy Barn Theater many times over the years and decided it was finally time to check it out!

We ventured out and made the hour and a half drive to The Comedy Barn Theater for a recent Saturday evening show. It was well worth the drive! One of the best evenings I’ve had at a tourist-area attraction.

Patiently, and safely, make your way to the back parking area when you arrive at The Comedy Barn Theater. Once inside you’re greeted by many other show go-ers where you will see the ticket counter. There’s Will Call and a register or two for ticket sales.

There’s a great concession stand with many items to choose from as well as a cute “shooting range,” called “The Hillbilly’s!” So, while you wait for the doors to open, put some quarters in and start your adventure. Kids, big and small,  will have a little fun!

There are quite a few The Comedy Barn t-shirts for purchase as well as some other interesting things. While you wait, you can also walk around and check out what they have to offer. Can you believe that they offer a t-shirt guarantee? If your The Comedy Barn Theater t-shirt gets worn out, just bring it with you the next time and they will replace it for free! Wow!

The bathrooms are quite interesting! It is in quite a bad location (located between the concession stand and the “shooting range”) but they were clean and well-stocked. I thought it was a neat idea to make the doors look like outhouse doors.

When you enter the theatre, you’ll pause for a photo where you will get your first dose of comedy! These guys are hilarious! You will get an opportunity to purchase your photo later on in the show and again on their website.

Take your seat and, if you decided not to get some concessions in the lobby, you can buy them at the theatre concessions before the show and during intermission. They’ve got a variety of candy, popcorn, bottled water, bottled sodas and cotton candy to choose from.

I don’t want to give the entire show away because, then it would be a bit less fun for you and your family, so I’ll give you a brief synopsis of the show and what you can expect. Always expect the unexpected at The Comedy Barn Theater.

The skunk act was hilarious! Farmer Klemm and his skunk, named Sweet Pea, definitely give you some knee slapping opportunities!

The animal act was outstanding. You will be amazed at the level of team work these dogs do! This is one part of the show you don’t want to miss. The trainers, Tony and Alena King, adopt all of the animals used in their acts from local animal shelters and humane societies.

Kyle Scribner, The Comedy Barn’s ventriloquist, and his pal Bonzo! If you think Jeff Dunham is good, you definitely don’t want to miss Kyle’s act! I got lost during the skit because it seemed like I was really watching a person, and an animal, both talking; not one person doing both.

A juggler by the name of Niels Duinker, who is from Holland, started juggling when he was just 5 years old, has an amazing act! He said it took him 4 years to learn the art of juggling. He’s such a talented young man! You’ll be glued to the edge of your seat; he’s that awesome! He is quite the comedian too! He will show his talent of juggling razor sharp knives, LED lights and more.

There’s a guy named Eric Lambert who does an act that is, in my opinion, a cross between Whack-a-Mole and Hungry, Hungry Hippo! It’s a Guest-assisted act and it is one you surely don’t want to miss any of! I don’t want to tell you any more than that because I want you to be surprised and experience it for yourself! But it’s awesome!

The “Snake Charmer…” Well, that’s Farmer Klemm again! He’s a real hoot with the little boys and girls. If you have kids, you’ll hope he picks your child for this act!

“Ping Pong Man” aka Danny Devaney was so funny! His act was funny from the moment he walked out of the Barn. You’ll be in stitches during his act. Just don’t volunteer for this one ladies and gentlemen.

The show is filled with music great music with some great cloggers. Madison, and Ashley, the cloggers, are very talented and were totally in sync. The band members are Charlie King, Clyde Foley Cummings and Ron Jeffrey.

Kendal McKay Manning has a great voice so make sure you stay in your seats for her song or two!

Harley Worthit is also a funny guy! The only negative I have was a political joke and what I took as a “fat” joke that he told. They would have been better left out. In regard to the political joke, I just didn’t think it was funny. Some other material would have been better. The same goes for the “fat,” joke. Personally, I feel that political jokes, and jokes that may offend some show guests, would be better left out of the show. That’s this critics opinion. On a positive note, he really knows how to ride a small bicycle!

There’s an intermission that lasts 20 minutes. That’s plenty of time to refresh your drinks, get more concessions and use the bathrooms.

I was disappointed that this was not a dinner show but that gives me all the reason to go see their other show, “Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud!”

Gift Certificates are available and would definitely make a great gift! This show is definitely a family show!
